The pilgrimage started out well, the Qantas staff were very nice and supplied me with a few bottles of “Rowling” which is an exceptional red. All too soon we stopped in Singapore, which meant that I could try my luck in the Qantas lounge as oddly enough my London Edinburgh leg had business class on it, which was very surprising as the “shuttle” has only one class and business it is not. Anyway I was let in and soon migrated to the wine bar as I had a few hours to kill, the service was very nice and my ipad remembered the wifi settings, just the job. shortly after my fourth red I was boarding the A380, a lovely plane that is very comfortable and since its mostly carbon fibre, the humidity is higher which means you will taste the food better and not be so dehydrated therefore you can drink more! The young stewardess remembered me, always a nice sign as the poor darling would soon be wearing out her shoe leather from my seat to the bar etc… I managed a nice 5 hours in the land of nod before it was time for the final Neil Perry meal and we would soon be in London, arriving at 5.30 which I thought was odd as I didn’t think that you could fly from midnight to six am. The London mob were a wee bit wiser as my “business” boarding pass would not let me into the lounge, not a problem as when your in T5 there are lots of shops to see. Time marched on and before too long I was up looking down on a patchwork of green fields and craggy mountains, a view I had not seen in a long time. The forth iron rail bridge came into view as we banked to make our final approach to Edinburgh and I knew I was home, finally.
